Dataset Exploration of E-commerce Dashboard using Power BI
Hi, this is another way to explore an e-commerce dataset that I did. This is my learning project, as I am learning how to use Power BI. The dataset I used in this project is exactly the same as my previous project. In addition, I also did the preprocessing using Python, as I did in the previous project.
Exploration
In this first dashboard, there are several reports regarding revenue, orders, total customers, product sales details, most ordered countries, and top twenty products. In addition, there are also time series reports on revenue and orders. All these reports can be filtered by time and the top twenty products by revenue.
This dashboard shows a report that the revenue totals £819.3 million, there are also 18.5K total orders, and the number of customers is 4,339. The White Hanging Heart T-Light Holder was the most ordered product, with a total of 1,971 orders. But the product with the highest revenue is Paper Craft, Little Birdie, with a total of £16,846,960, and the highest quantity sold is 80,995. The United Kingdom (UK) is the country with the highest total order compared to 37 other countries. Based on the month, we can see that the most revenue and the most orders happened in November 2011. We can see the detailed report for November 2011 by filtering based on the month.
This dashboard shows November 2011 reports, and we can see in here that the total revenue in November 2011 was £105.9 million, with a total order of 2,658 and 1,665 transactions. Also, the most ordered product in November 2011 was Rabbit Night Light, with a total order of 437. This product also had the highest revenue, with a total of £2,319,041. But the product with the highest total quantity sold is ASTM Design 3D Paper Stickers. The UK still the country with the highest total ordered in November 2011. Next, we can see a country breakdown that shows total orders, customers, and revenue in every country.
This dashboard shows the total customers in every country, and as we can see, the UK has 3,921 customers, making it the country with the most customers.
Most of the customers that do transactions are coming from Europe. The bubble that shows on the map describes the number of customers the bigger the bubble, the more customers there are in that area.
Back to the country breakdown dashboard, we found that the UK is the country with the most orders compared to other countries, with a total of 16,649 orders. Germany and France are the countries with the highest total orders after the UK.
The dashboard shows that the UK has the highest total revenue compared to other countries with a total revenue of £672,717,642. Netherlands and EIRE as the second and third countries with the highest total revenue, respectively.
Based on this country breakdown dashboard, we can see that the most customers, orders, and revenue happened in November 2011. Which makes sense of these three aspects being entirely related. The UK is the country with the most customers and orders and also has the highest revenue.
Conclusion
- The UK is the country with the highest revenue, the most ordered country, and the most customers compared to other countries.
- Peak revenue, orders, and customers in the UK It happened in November 2011.
- The most ordered product is the White Hanging Heart T-Light Holder, but the product with the highest revenue and highest quantity sold is Paper Craft, Little Birdie.
Based on those points, we can conclude that we need to focus on the UK’s market. Because the UK market has the highest revenue, the highest orders, and the highest customers compared to other countries, However, customers from the Netherlands have the highest purchasing power compared to other countries, so to get better revenue, we can expand our market in the Netherlands. Eventually, if we need to gain more revenue, we need to promote the White Hanging Heart T-Light Holder and Paper Craft, Little Birdie, since those two items have the highest revenue and highest quantity sold.
